2014 Year in Review: Building Community

Building Community

2014 was a year of growth and community building for Alameda Peeps. As we continued to establish ourselves as a digital gathering place for Alameda residents, we saw our community come together in meaningful ways.

Christmas Tree Theft Response

One of the most memorable moments of 2014 was when the community rallied together after a Christmas tree theft in the West End neighborhood. When a family’s Christmas tree was stolen from their front yard, Alameda Peeps members quickly organized to help. The community came together to replace the tree and show support for the affected family, demonstrating the power of neighbors helping neighbors.

This incident highlighted what Alameda Peeps was becoming: not just a Facebook group, but a real community network where people could count on each other in times of need. The response showed that even small acts of kindness could make a big difference in someone’s day.

Looking Forward

As 2014 came to a close, we were excited about the future. The community was growing, and we were seeing more and more examples of neighbors connecting, sharing information, and supporting each other. We knew we were building something special that would continue to grow in the years ahead.
