2016 Year in Review: Safety and Community Action
Safety and Community Action
2016 marked a significant milestone for Alameda Peeps as we began to work more closely with the City of Alameda on community initiatives. Our focus on traffic safety led to one of our most impactful partnerships yet.
Slow Down in Town Campaign
The “Slow Down in Town” campaign was a collaborative effort between Alameda Peeps and the City of Alameda to promote safer driving speeds throughout the island. The campaign encouraged drivers to follow the “Drive 25” initiative, emphasizing the importance of driving at safe speeds in residential areas.
This partnership demonstrated how a community group could work effectively with local government to address shared concerns. The campaign raised awareness about traffic safety and helped make Alameda’s streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and all residents.
Community Impact
The success of the “Slow Down in Town” campaign showed that Alameda Peeps could be more than just a social media group—we could be a force for positive change in our community. This partnership set the stage for future collaborations and community initiatives.
Looking Forward
As we moved into 2017, we were excited to build on this momentum and continue finding ways to make Alameda an even better place to live.
